Beschreibung

The Garmin GTN-750 is more than a "super-sized" GTN-650, although that is the most obvious difference. This larger size not only allows the GTN-750 to show more information, it allows that information to be more usable and digestible.

GTN-650: The GTN-650 is 2.65" tall, and the display measures 4.9" diagonally. The display shows 600 x 266 pixels.

GTN-750: The GTN-750 is significantly taller, at 6". This accommodates a display which measures 6.9" diagonally. The display shows 600 x 708 pixels.

The GTN-750 display measures "only" 41% larger in corner-to-corner size. However, the true measurement is the information it conveys to the pilot. The GTN-750 shows 166% more information, more than twice as much as the GTN-650. In fact, the GTN-750 is closer to triple the GTN-650's content than double.

This larger display size allowed Garmin to format the GTN-750's display for greater effectiveness. For example, the GTN-750 feature include:

The COMM and NAV frequencies are at the top of the display (rather than the side), which opens up a dramatically wider and more informative Moving Map / MFD.
The larger touchscreen display allows direct data entry, rather than scrolling on the GTN-650.
The display can show FliteCharts, which are reproduced AeroNav Services terminal procedures charts. (Please note that the aircraft position is not shown.)
The display can also show Garmin ChartView, which are reproduced Jeppesen terminal procedures charts. The aircraft position is shown with ChartView for better awareness.
The GTN-750 is capable of acting as a Weather Radar Indicator for the Garmin GWX-68 / GWX-70 / GWX-75 Transmitter / Receiver.

This larger display undeniably occupies more height in the radio stack. However, the GTN-750 has an additional ability to free up panel space. In addition to the ability to control a remotely-mounted Transponder (much like the GTN-650), the GTN-750 can be used to control remotely-mounted Garmin Audio Panels, such as the GMA-35 and GMA-35c (with Bluetooth). This gives you fingertip control of Communications and the Intercom. Using a remotely-mounted Audio Panel also frees up valuable vertical space in your radio stack. This feature may be the difference which allows you to fit the GTN-750 in your panel. It also puts precious panel space to its best and most-useful purpose.

The GTN-750, which is the next-generation version of the GNS-530W, will serve as the hub of your avionics. The Navigation and Communication functions are more powerful, but also easier to use. The Multi-Function Display (MFD) capabilities are enhanced considerably, especially when paired with an ADS-B In Receiver.

Most of the GTN-750's features, including a high-resolution moving map, graphical flight planning, terrain avoidance, traffic alerts, weather information, and taxiway diagrams, are made possible by the larger 6.9" color display with a touch interface.

The GTN-750 has a significantly larger and higher-resolution display than the GNS-530W. It has a "pinch and zoom" touch interface, similar to a smartphone. (Some pilots love the touch interface, and others miss the traditional buttons and knobs.) Raised bezels offer a physical connection to "anchor" the pilot's hand during operation.

Navigation

The GTN-750 will allow WAAS-GPS-enabled precision IFR LPV approaches, in addition to standard VOR / Localizer / Glideslope navigation.

There are thousands of FAA-approved LPV WAAS approaches, with more being added regularly. The FAA's stated goal is to have a WAAS approach available for every public runway at least 3,200 feet long.
